The 60 miles of well-maintained equestrian trails and sand roads at Brays Island wind through serene woodlands and open fields, as well as alongside scenic marsh views and tranquil rivers. In addition to 51 stalls, Brays Island offers over 100 acres of pasture spread across 35 paddocks to accommodate their 70 resident horses. From river views to hunt lands, there are countless trails to explore Brays Island by horseback.
The intricate trail system winds throughout the 5,500 acres and offers five distinct trails. Whether you start with the Front Gate Loop trail that leads you through open pastures, alongside the avenue of age old oak trees, or down the Oak Grove trail showcasing flat, wide sandy trails ideal for canter work or a leisurely amble in the secluded part of the property, every ride can be different.
Wildlife is abundant on many trails, but most specifically when you ride the Hunt Woods Trail through the 3,500 acres of pristine hunting land. From hawks to foxes, you will encounter countless wildlife. The hunt woods allow for countless hours of exploration and natural jumps are found through many of the trails for the jumping enthusiasts. This is where the community hosts Ride & Dine events that take place at the end of the quail season where riders can enjoy the trail ride and end with a champagne brunch in the hunt field.
Views abound throughout the property and each trail ride. Breathtaking sunrises are best captured on the Goat and Eagle Island trail while sunsets over the river are enjoyed on the Pocotaligo River trail. Rides can be as quiet and serene, or as social as you intend. Riding by the golf course or on-site ponds, you’ll pass by other owners and guests driving or fishing. While the property is stunning at any time of year, springtime is when you’ll find wild purple flowers through the fields by the front gate.
